As a multipassionate creative person with responsibilities, you’ve spent years trying to figure out how to honor your responsibilities and make the things you wish to see in the world or experience with your own hands. The strap on your resources might leave you feeling blocked or depleted. There’s a call for something to change—something says, “there’s got to be more than this.”
It’s the call of your own creativity.
You feel it in quiet moments.
As Brené Brown says, “Unused creativity is not benign.” When creative impulses have no place to go, they become weight, burden, and burnout. But when given even the smallest attention, they transform into vital, essential nutrients for everything else you’re here to do.
This isn’t just about making art. It’s about reclaiming your creative power without sacrifice.
Using The Artist’s Way by Julia Cameron as our shared language and process framework, Creative Recovery Circle is a year-long program designed specifically for multipassionate creatives who want to make more space for creativity in their lives.
The Circle format creates a sacred container where we witness each other’s stories and recognize that while our stories are uniquely ours, our struggles are not uncommon. Through trauma-informed facilitation, we co-create a brave space to explore and reclaim our creativity.
This isn’t just another book club or art class. It’s a structured path to creative recovery in a supportive community that understands the unique challenges of balancing creativity within your full life.
“The Artist’s Way has allowed me to take my creative life a little bit more seriously. It’s enabled the people in my life who don’t embrace my creativity to also take it more seriously. Our Circle reminds me that I’m not alone on the path and makes it seem not so bonkers. It took away the Imposter syndrome of what it means to be a real artist, and, now, I realize we’re all just making it up. Literally, and it’s okay, but it gives me a safe place to talk about it and cry about it. Whatever I need, I know I’ve got people who are here to support me.”

“Through The Artist’s Way, I’ve learned: 1) my job is to listen for and honor the next right step, and listening is made easier with each step I honor, starting with morning pages; 2) If there’s only time and energy left in the day for one thing, then take yourself on an artist date; 3) OMG I have a process (and have for some time, but didn’t give it credit), and that my process is just about the most fun I can have alone, involving ingredients like rolling out on foam rollers, playing with my furry familiars, listening to an album and dancing to candlelight – before I know it, I simply have to be the one making the music and off I go!”
— Erica Beloved, singer-songwriter based in LA
“It’s helped me realize my creative life as being much broader than the specific little thing I might be making. It’s a Gestalt sort of thing, a holistic experience…I’ve got creative buddies. I’ve got people I can go and talk to in a way that I can’t with other people. I consider everybody creative, but they don’t necessarily consider themselves that and, so when I want to work through something or talk about something they claim that’s not in their wheelhouse. Here I found people who speak the same language. I found my cohort, I found my clan, I found my family, my buds.”
— Marilee Wertlake, Wisconsin
Not at all! The Circle is designed to guide you through the book’s principles and practices, whether you’re brand new to the material or have explored it before.
Absolutely! The Creative Recovery Circle is about reconnecting with your creative essence, whatever form that takes. Whether you’re drawn to writing, cooking, gardening, singing, visual arts, or any other creative expression, this journey will help you reclaim that part of yourself.
All sessions are recorded, so you can catch up on anything you miss. The community space also helps you stay connected between sessions.
Sharing is always optional. Some participants find it helpful and affirming to share their journey and creations, while others prefer a more private experience. Both approaches are honored in the Circle.
The core practices of The Artist’s Way include Morning Pages (about 30 minutes daily) and Artist Dates (about 2 hours weekly), plus our group sessions (about 90 minutes weekly). Many participants find that these practices actually create more spaciousness in their lives rather than adding to their busyness.
